hi
this is very trivial but I’m noticing that when I drink anything that is cold or room temperature , I get an odd sensation running down the left side of my chest and down my left arm. Lasts a few moments and eases pretty quick but enough to put me off drinking anything less than Luke warm and hotter temperatures.
in the great scheme of things a very, very, very minor thing but interested to know if this is a common thing after a mastectomy. I have not come across this in the literature provided.
thank you
wishing you all the very best
Mark
Hi there
My partner found a US cancer forum website with this exact problem posed. There were over 90 people also reporting this side effect but that was over an 11 year period. So feel better now knowing I’m not going barmy. Some posts said it lasted a few weeks, some 6 months and a few longer so like everything else in this battle, it seems to be how each persons body reacts to mastectomy
big hugs to all

Hi MrT1 Mark
Not sure where you are with treatments but I definitely had the same sensation following my mx, when drinking cold or hot stuff, it sometimes felt like it was wanting to leak out of my body and definitely noticeable like you describe.
I definitely don't get it anymore (6 months post op) but seem to think it lasted maybe a month or 2. Or maybe all the other odd sensations have meant I have stopped noticing it eh??
Have a speedy recovery & hope you get to experience steaming mugs of tea & cool acoloholic beverages soon.
Sam
Hi Yorkshire Deector
sorry for slow response, as I’ve just said on another post I have not been getting notifications except for duplicates of ones I have already had!
thanks for your reply and good to know it is something uk patients have noticed as well as us. Just got to get through this for a few more weeks I guess. Good job the weather has got colder and I don’t need ice cold drinks to cool down.
2 weeks post mastectomy follow up appointment Monday
Hope you are doing well 6 months out. Did you have chemo or start hormone therapy?
Cheers Sam, mines a Luke warm ribenna!

Hello Mr T1,
funny you should say this but I asked my surgeon about this last week!! I feel any cold drinks run down the centre and spread out to the right for me - rhs mastectomy. He didn’t know. Even thought about the anatomy following it with his finger!!! Intriguing!!!
I hope you get on ok. I’m four weeks after surgery and have to do more chemo. I had 8 cycles of FEC-T before surgery. I’m triple negative.
