Eight weeks after my mastectomy and my first day back in yoga. Very gentle, but felt amazing. I ended up having no further treatment after my mastectomy, which is wonderful of course, but also means I am in a weird anxious limbo until an appointment in January to discuss reconstruction options.
For the last couple of weeks, I was thinking I wouldn't have it. I was totally happy with my softie stuck in the shelf bit of my yoga top.
But now things change! Very aware this is all pretty vain and ridiculous in the great scheme of things, but all I seem to do is obsess about surgery options, prosthesis types and why are even the nicer bras still basically kind of ugly?
Have spent so much money in Amoena online shop. Prosthesis nightmare ... the size 4 is too big but size 3 is maybe too small, although that's what I got from the NHS fitter. I'm normally a 34C bra size but the size 4 prosthesis looks too big and sags too low. But then the size 3 moves around in my C cup pocket. So I tried a 34B bra, which looks much better and holds the size 3 form in place, but is super tight and uncomfortable. I even got a swimsuit, and the whole experience has me in tears.
So, now I'm thinking maybe I should have the surgery after all. I don't think I want an implant as I heard the expanding is really sore and they need replaced after a while. Also I don't like the idea of mismatched breasts as I age. I also don't want any muscle removed, so that leaves the DIEP flap surgery. If I can get my head around the long recovery and awful tummy scar, this might be the right choice, but I have a question. I know they do this 'thing' where they have to move your belly button. When I was teenager I got a little tattoo on my tummy, about 2 inches above my belly button ...... will it get messed up?
.... it depends on the size and placement of the tattoo They usually take the area below your belly button to make the new boob, moving your belly button higher up. You might find that it's below your belly button after the op!
