Got my last chemo on Friday and wondered how long it took for eyebrows and lashes to come back?
I'm desperate to wear mascara again!!
Hello
I'm bumping this post up as it's slipped to the second page (and I don't know the answer) .
There is also the September chemotherapy thread where the ladies there might be able to help you.
Best wishes,
- I finished my chemo in April but I’m sorry, I can’t really remember when my eyelashes & brows came back. I’ve looked on some photos and it looks like I had them mid July but my brows were still sparse.
I was advised by the Macmillan beauty adviser in Boots only to wear mascara very rarely and only on the very ends of lashes for a bit as the follicles are very delicate. I’ve been putting eyeliner on top lid and it looks fine. I have worn mascara but only a tiny bit when I go out out!! I couldn’t wear eye make-up at all for about 6 months as my eyes & skin were so sensitive but I’m making up for it now!!
Hope this helps!!
I finished chemo in July and my eyelashes are sort of back. Most are crazy long now but I have a patch at the end of my upper lid that hasn't come back at all. I didn't lose all my eyebrow hair but they are back like two crazy, fighting caterpillars, am already tweezing again to avoid the mono-brow look but now also have to trim the hairs as they're LONG
Hi there,
I finished chemo in April and think I had mine back around July. I remember putting a bit of mascara on for a wedding on 30 June! The eyebrows are OK but my lashes are still quite stubby and I have some patches where they have not come in very well at all. I tried Revitalash but it makes my eyes very bloodshot the next day so stopped. Like Bigguy, I got used to wearing eyeliner on my top lid for a bit of definition when I had no eyelashes and still do this, but it's nice to have at least enough bottom lashes for a bit of mascara.
Linda xx
Patience and faith
You don't have to worry. I have also finished chemo in January. The hair on my head, eyebrows, and eyelashes were completely falling out. My look also seemed quite strange I didn’t even talk to anyone. Then my friend told me to use careprost eye drops to bring after the eyelashes. I ordered a drop and started using it. Now my eyelashes are as long and thick as they before.
