Hello everyine ive got my 3rd chemo coming up next week and I suffer badly with side effects how does everyone else cope with them like nausea the sickness tablets stop working after a few days ive tried others and stomach cramps and I just dont feel like eating. I know everyone is different but some tips would be nice for me to try to cope its such a shame ive been recovering at home and feel like myself again to go have more chemo but I have to have 1 or 2 more to see how I cope and yes they have lowered it yet again .Also cold capping I have a bald patch on my crown will I still be able to go ahead

  • I found the sickness worse on 2nd round with increased dose. Sick 2 nights at 4am. Horrible...

  • Hi Topcat2

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with breast cancer and that you are having a hard time with side effects.  If you're not already doing so drink plenty of fluids as that helps flush our your system. Try eating something easy on your stomach like scrambled eggs or a couple of boiled eggs if you don't like scrambled.

I can't answer your cold capping question as I wasn't given the option of cold capping when I had chemo.  Hopefully someone with cold capping experience will be along shortly but if not contact your chemo nurse and they should be able to advise you.

Wishing you the best of luck with your remaining chemo.

    Best wishes

  • Having tried most of the OTC and prescription only drugs, I found ginger to be the most effective remedy for migraine related nausea. I like it in the form of ginger shots or capsules. It’s worth a try.

  • Thank you ive had a chat with my oncolgist as well

  • I try it if i can find any i ususally eat ginger biscuits

  • Thet lowered my dose and I still ended up very sick so they lower it a bit more

  • I found ginger helpful too.
Stem ginger biscuits were recommended to me and they, along with toasted cheese were among the few foods that tasted as they should. Good luck with the rest of your chemo.
Hang in there and look forward to ringing that bell at the end of your treatment.
