About 3/4 weeks ago I was told I was all clear , and it had spread into my Lyne nodes if I’ve spelt that right !
but I need chemo still as they may be microscopic cells not detected
I’ve been living my life as before all this but being more caution about food , drink etc
im still trying to process it all I think
but I don’t know how to feel now
at this moment in time
I’ve heard horror stories about chemo so I’m dreading starting that
I’m just in limbo
Hi, soooo I had breast cancer surgery in March 26. I was told margins around the breast op site were clear. However when the hospital did original biopsies they flagged the aggressive cancer had spread to my lymph nodes. Lovely surgeon explained that because the cancer was sooo aggressive chemo would probably be my care route after surgery.
In the review appointment after surgery lovely surgeon confirmed his skills had given clear margins but 23 out 25 lymph nodes removed had cancer.
As a result a lengthy programme of chemo was put in place for me because it was highly likely rogue cancer seeds had managed to escape and we're floating around me.
I waited a few weeks to recover from surgery.
I had an EC chemo session April 24 and was actually doing ok until 2 weeks post chemo and my temperature flew up with other symptoms. I ended up in hospital for a few days while the oncology team sorted me out.
My next chemo session was delayed to 6 weeks so I could recover and I had that yesterday -6 June 26.
They had lowered my EC dose and gave me some injections and steroids to take.
So far I am ok fingers crossed
It is a case of rolling with it, not panicking and letting your cancer care team look after you.
Always be gentle with yourself and never overdo jobs etc.
Also, phone your Cancer Care Team Breast Care Nurse. They are there to offer both mental and physical support during your journey.
Then, of course, there is The MacMillan Helpline, who are available for longer hours.
I have used both services, especially when I have felt a bit lost and, like you, not sure how I feel.
The journey is tough but will be worth it (after all you have been through the toughest part and survived - ie your operation!
Hi there, I had chemo and whilst it was tough it was manageable. Maybe this is helpful to share, it's a link to my blog post about chemo side effects. Chemo blog link
Best wishes
