Hello everyone I’m 58 had mammogram scan and biopsy on the 19th march was told the dreaded news. I’m really struggling an not coping very well at the moment. Have to return to hospital on 2nd April for biopsy results. I think think the only positive I can take at the minute is they said it had not spread to my lymph nodes. How do u cope with the waiting I just keep breaking down. I’m so scared
Hi Bud. Everyone here has been in the same boat. You did the first thing to cope and that was joining this group. Once you get your results and a treatment plan you can still post or view others post who have been though the same treatment path, lots of advice if you need help or reassurance. Good luck Dizzy Di
Hello Bud,
I'm so sorry you find yourself in this situation, its not the news anyone wants to hear. But, everyone here has been through something similar, so you're not alone.
I agree, the waiting is absolutely torturous. Have you got someone you can talk to?? Have you spoken to your GP?? I've had lots of lovely support here, everyone is so kind.
The other thing to bear in mind is that your biopsy results could be absolutely fine. They do the biopsy to try and prove that there's nothing suspicious, so you could still get some good news.
Hang in there, try not to worry and keep busy if you can.
Joyce xx
Hi Bud,
I'm not an expert, but I wasn't told that it was cancer until after they had the biopsy results.
I had something called microcalcifications, which they can see on both mammograms and ultrasound, they may or not be cancerous. Unfortunately mine proved to be cancerous, but I only found that out after the biopsy results were back.
Are you able to call the breast care nurse, or perhaps try the Macmillan helpline, they might be able to put your mind at rest.
Its such a worrying time, sorry I cant be any more help,
Joyce x
for me at the mammogram and biopsy, the surgeon said that yes they think it is probably cancer and i think they base it on the density of the mass, not all masses are the same.
does it help is prepare? not really, horror, we want it chopped off there and then i even asked, they said no.
the results will help the next steps, the type and possible treatments, it is a process and the hardest part is the waiting in the beginning.
I scrolled a lot of cat videos anddog videos because i needed to be distracted and it made me smile. Try to do something you enjoy, gardening, walking, swimming, wine w friends. The husband and i went for dinners, try not to live through stuff until you get there.
One thing we need to remind ourselves is that there are things we cannot control and somehow accept what is will be what is.
We must live our best lives in the in betweens of this
