Antrozole

Hi

I’m new here . I had a lumpectomy back in Dec 21. I had a 7mm tumour removed . Lymph nodes were clear.
I had 5 sessions of radiotherapy. I started Antrozole in the January 2022 as my cancer was estrogen fed.
I am getting light headed and wondered if it’s maybe due to my Antrozole and the effect it has on my hormones and estrogen levels? I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this.
thank you

  • Hi NanaGg

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I've been on Anastrozole for just over a year and so far I haven't been feeling light headed.  While it's probably nothing to worry about it wouldn't be a bad idea to ring your chemo nurse and tell them how you are feeling.

    Best wishes

  • Hi

    Looking on one American site:

    More common

    • Blurred vision
    • bone pain
    • chest pain or discomfort
    • dizziness
    • headache
    • nervousness
    • pounding in the ears
    • slow or fast heartbeat
    • swelling of the feet or lower legs

dizziness is listed as a side effect.  I took it for 5 years and same as Daisy, didn't have any dizziness.  If it's very bad, then definitely speak to someone about it, either your doctor of breast care nurse as Anastrozole can also increase blood pressure, which in turn can cause dizziness - so it could just be a side effect or a raised blood pressure.

    Kindest wishes, Lesley

  • Gosh that’s interesting

I’ve recently woken up to blurred vision, trip to eye clinic, diagnosed with bilateral uveitis. A week of steroid tablets, steroid drops and dilating drops, and now a further 4 weeks of drops, tapering off week by week then appointment at the end to see how it’s looking. I did find some studies mentioning uveitis as a less common side effect of Anastrozole (I’ve just finished 7 years of it).
I didn’t have light headed ness though

I think always worth getting checked out, it could just be ‘one of those things’ when you’re on these drugs but I’ve self referred a few times since my diagnosis if something has changed. Best to know whether it’s anything to worry about or not. Love and hugs, HFxx

  • Hi,

Worth raising with your GP as it could be a symptom of something else. I have light-headedness when my iron levels are low - and a quick blood test and prescription sorts this out.

I'm sure they'll do their best to pin down the cause.

    All the best.
