Newly Diagnosed - Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Hi there

Unfortunately I was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer yesterday and I'm just here looking to connect with others with experience of similar really, although I do have a previous history skin cancer also so am wanting to share with and support others going through that also. My bio contains all of my experience to date.

It's all very scary and I'm swinging between it not feeling real and it crashing over me in waves! The great news is the team at the hospital seem to be really on the ball with this so I feel very lucky in that sense. One of the biggest kickers is that I'm due to start my new job this coming Monday and have just told my new manager the news this morning. Just waiting on her coming back with her thoughts on this as it means needing time off for appointments, surgery and treatment, but fingers are crossed that I can go ahead and just work as normally as I possibly can.

Hope all out there are being supported and if I can help anyone, please feel free to ask anything.

All the best

  • Hi

Your 'journey' with cancer is almost exactly the same as mine! I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2016, had a BCC removed in 2021 and was diagnosed with TNBC in 2022.

I'm happy to share my TNBC experience with you if there's anything you want to ask.

  • HI MsC1975

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer and that you have had skin cancer.  I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer over five years ago and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I made a full recovery.  You can read my bio if you'd like, I also wrote a blog called My journey with Triple Negative Breast Cancer which you can also read.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment and with your new job.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Anne

Thank you so much for your reply.

Yes, that's amazing! Almost the exact same timeline too. I also had a pink raised bump removed from my chest last year, which looked a lot like an amelanotic melanoma, but thankfully turned out to be a hypertrophic actinic keratosis. Was a nerve racking 6 week wait for results though!

I'm sure I will definitely have some questions along the way so your offer to share your TNBC experience is very much appreciated. Even when you have support, I find it tends so feel pretty lonely until you've connected with someone who's been there.
