Hi there.
i had my first round of DOCATEXAL (had 3 cycles of AC previously.
had virtually very little side effects from the first 3
however, this new chemo, has hit me like a steam train.
i am today on day 8. (Day 5 of injections)
i have never felt so portly in my life.
the back/stomach pain, headache, nausea, loose bowels, chest pain
i am taking so many pain killers to try and curb these pains.
it started on Day 3 and it is now day8, with only showing a very slight sign of improvement.
has anybody else had these, and if so, any advice how to alleviate the pain, and ca I expect this every month.
please, any advice will help.
thank you
chris
Hi Christie
Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum. I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you are suffering side effects from your last bout of chemo. I suggest that you contact your chemo ward about the symptoms you are experiencing especially about the chest pain you are experiencing. While it probably isn't anything serious it's best to get it checked out. They should be able to suggest something to help with the pain and maybe prescribe some stronger anti-nausea medication.
Hope you feel better soon.
Best wishes
Daisy53
Thank you. Took your advice. Different medications have been prescribd.

Hi
i can only sympathise with you. I too had 3 docetaxel after 3 EC. EC was a breeze compared to docetaxel. Like you said it hits you like a steam train. I was fine for the first 3 days, then one side effect after another began. I had diarrhoea for 12 days, mouth ulcers, oral thrush, nosebleeds, racing heart rate, breathless, plus the pains from filgrastim injections. But, it didn’t last and I did have better days. I advised my team and my oncologist reduced the dose for the last 2 chemos, it did help a lot. I also made sure that I drank loads of water to flush it out.
Hope this helps
Thank you so much Louise.
all of the symptoms that you experienced I am going through. I have never felt so poorly in my life, and the pain has been relentless.
i am going to get some stronger medication tomorrow, so that hopefully will help alleviate the pain. Tonight took my last filgrastim, so hopefully the side effects should start to ease.
when I read about the side effects of this chemo, I must admit, I found it very daunting (if not a bit scary).
the thought of another 2 cycles of this is making me feel very anxious.
i am seeing my oncologist next week, so hopefully she reduces the dosage.
i have used the hotline a couple of times, and found the staff lovely. I do feel a bit guilty phoning them, even they try to reassure me that this line is there to be used. I am alone completely, so I have found that by calling them, has been for a bit of reassurance which they have given.
thank you again, you have really helped.
