Hi all. I am in the waiting limbo after having a biopsy last Thursday. I initially went to the doctors after finding a peas sized lump and during her examination she found another larger lump. Had the 2 week referral and on the day had the mammogram and ultrasound. The small lump was a cyst that sat in front of a very large cyst (5cm) which they have aspirated. They then found another lump which they didn't like the look of and said looked cancerous. This threw me as I didn't think they'd say this before a biopsy and results. They then did a biopsy and I am now awaiting results. There is something in the other breast as well but he said I would need an MRI as I had complex breasts?!
Everything escalated very quickly in that one appointment and I really don't know how to feel, what to ask or what happens next. They may have told me but it was all a bit overwhelming. Any advice on what happens next and what to ask would be really helpful. Xx
Hi Sansa35c942
The one thing I would like to add to Kezdc16ad's advice is not to think that 'that's it then' IF it does turn out to be cancer. I was convinced that it was the end for me and totally cleared my house of all my niknaks etc to make it easier for my dependents But, actually, I had 80mm removed from my breast at aged 51 and I'm going to be 60 in December!
The treatment, being oestrogen positive was no where near as bad as I expected either as I didn't need chemo therapy, which really was a huge positive for me.
I sincerely hope that it's not cancer, but if it should prove to be so, then take one step at a time (per the advice on re your biopsy results).
Kindest wishes, Lesley
Hi Sansa35c942
It’s a really difficult time waiting for test results so I am sorry you are going through this at the moment. Although you have been told it looks cancerous that does not mean it definitely is, only the biopsy results will tell. If, and it is if, it turns out to be cancer then I agree with lesleyhelen . When I was diagnosed last year I thought it was the end of my world, the reality has been very different and I am happy and healthy again. If you are diagnosed you will find out more details about type, stage and so on which will inform your treatment plan and when you know that I am sure the lovely people here will be happy to share their experiences, advice and support. x
