Hi. I’m not sure what I'm doing really, but hoping to do a bit of research and get my head round it a bit.

To cut short a very long story where no one (Drs included) knew what was going on. I damaged my spine, and ended up nursed in bed for 6 weeks.
every now and again someone would mention metastatic cancer then that was it.

6 weeks later…….

I’ve had spinal surgery which  is healing great, but while they’ve been doing tests, and it sounds by total luck (in a round about way) they’ve also found a small treatable lump cancerous lump on my left breast.

So, the plan is to get myself healed from surgery first, and get myself back strong enough to walk, then kind of look at what support mcmillan gives?
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? I feel like I’m just a bit confused really.

  • Hi  , welcome to the forum, my own diagnosis came from finding a lump/ thickening myself but there have been others here whose cancer was discovered during other investigations. Good to hear that yours is presenting as small and treatable. In that respect it is likely to be similar to lots of us here. I have found this site to be a great place for support and shared experiences. Must do as I’ve been rattling around the site for 7 years! You can read people’s stories by clicking on their username.
Your thread should now move back up to the top of the page and I’m sure you’ll get other replies. Sorry you’ve had such a horrible time (clearly an understatement) resulting in spinal surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery. There will be lots of support here for your breast cancer experiences. Sending love and a big virtual hug, HFxx

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that you needed spinal surgery and that you were diagnosed with breast cancer.  I've had breast cancer twice, the first time I found a lump and the second time it was discovered during my 2nd annual mammogram.  After having treatment I made a full recovery and two years later I'm still cancer free.

Wishing you the best of luck recovering from surgery and with whatever treatment you may need.

    Best wishes
