Hi
I had my lumpectomy and lymph node removal a week ago Fri , the 3rd , seems to be healing ok and breast nurse said it was fine . Off for results on this Thurs . But was wondering how soon after surgery does chemo start roughly ? Not much has been said yet but sure I will find out Thurs , but interested in others experience . Thank you
My chemo started 10 weeks after my lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy. It was scheduled for 9 weeks after but my bloods weren't right so it was delayed a week.
Anne
And how’s it all gone ? Thank you for the reply xx
Hi , I’m new to this . I was Diagnosed with breast cancer on 21st of July , and it’s all been so overwhelming as I went for my routine mammogram only to be recalled . Had more mammograms , ultra scan and biopsy then a few days later the results . They don’t think it’s spread after having a CT scan and MRI , they did find a nodule on my lung but think it’s begnin . Will have a repeat ct in 3 months . It’s in my right breast and is hormone receptive so have had to stop my HRT , so emotions and head all over the place . Saw the oncologist last week , and yesterday everything was all booked in . Heart scan today , more bloods Tues , kidney scan on the 8th , oncologist again on the 11th then if all results are fine chemo starts on the 16th . So that is the plan . Then surgery and radiotherapy . So much to take in and feel very alone
My treatment was three years ago now and it all went well thank you.
Like you, my breast cancer was picked up through a routine mammogram. You can read my 'journey' if you want to by clicking on my username or profile picture.
Mine was triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) so I had 3 cycles of EC (epirubicin and cyclophospamide), which was one infusion every 3 weeks, followed by 12 weeks of paclitaxel. I count myself fortunate that apart from losing my hair, which started to grow back towards the end of my paclitaxel, I just felt a bit under the weather for about 10 days of each 3 week cycle of EC and completely fine while having paclitaxel.
Obviously different chemo can affect everyone differently. What chemo are you having?
I’m not actually sure yet as everything changed , originally I was having chemo first then surgery then changed so not discussed yet xx
