I had a routine breast screening. I kept meaning to book and then forgetting but eventually got round to it. I was contacted and attended for an X-ray, scan and biopsy. I than had a vacuum biopsy. I am in total shock because I have no symptoms so kept thinking there must be some mistake. I am trying to get my head round it all. I am waiting for an appointment where they use dye in an X-ray and then final results before a treatment plan is agreed. so hard to accept the diagnosis and tell friends and family.

  • Hi welcome to the forum. It is a shock, sends all our anxieties through the roof. I was where you are last year. Since then I've had op chemo, radiotherapy and now on Letrozole and in remission.

The waits are the worst. We all think worst case scenarios. However treatments have come a long way and reaching remission is good.

Once you know exactly what your dealing with and have a treatment plan you will start to take back some controll.

Use this for, the macmillan nurses and cancer care to support you and get you through it. I wish you well in your treatment and recovery xx

  • Thank-you. Good to know there is support out there.

  • Hello.

It is so scary. It is not an easy thing telling friends and family, but you will get a lot of support from them.
There is loads of support on here too.

    You have got this. x

  • Hi

That all sounds very familiar! I’m about 1 year ahead of you. Try to keep yourself healthy - get out and walk if you can.

You’ll feel better when you know what your treatment will entail. It is all very doable

I never felt unwell from the cancer! Remember, you’re highly unlikely to get all the side effects they are obliged to tell you about

In a years time hopefully it will all be behind you

    Good luck x

  • Hi Melae9

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I'm sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer twice, the first time five years ago and the second time two years ago.  After having surgery and treatment I made a full recovery and I'm still cancer free.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever comes next for you.

    Best wishes
