Hi
I`m newly diagnosed with Invasive Ductal breast cancer , i`ve got 2 x lumps both in the same breast , i`m down to have my surgery of a therapeutic mammoplasty on 1st October , but surgeon is only operating on one breast first then 6 months later she will address my "good breast " , Has anyone else had this procedure and how did it work with bras with breasts being so different in size ? i`m so overwhelmed with everything going on at the moment , Many thanks
Hi,
I had a similar experience with having to deal with asymmetrical breasts after my surgery for more than 12 months and I have to say it wasn't a pleasant experience until I bought a bra the size of my larger breast and then I bought a Post Surgery Breast Form from M&S (they come in different sizes and for right/left breasts) and just attached it to my bra to fill the cup for the smaller breast. You just have to position it properly so that it doesn't look weird under your clothes. It was pretty comfortable and my breasts looked even. You really don't have to worry about that. The very best of luck with your surgery, fingers crossed everything goes well!

Thank you so much for your reply , yes i was thinking i was going to have to buy 2 different sizes then be cutting them and joining together , which would be a headache , this sounds so much easier .
Have you now had your other breast reduced ? Hope you are doing well on your journey ?
Hello, I also had a therapeutic mammoplasty. I am hoping for surgery to improve the asymmetry in December. I avoid light colours and bought a dark waistcoat that I wear over almost everything and that makes the size difference less noticeable. I have also returned to my pre surgery bras and sometimes use a filler in a pocket too. For me it is exercise that is the most difficult - I found one bra from m and s that has adjustable straps so you can make one side tighter than the other but I often end up having to (surreptitiously) hold my small breast if I go for a run!
Hi again,
Yes, I had my other breast reduced and my surgeon did a great job. As insane as it may sound, I like my breasts better now compared to how they looked before. Scars don't bother me at all and I believe this is how it should be. I was more concerned about the shape, but my breasts are very even looking. I even don't wear a bra at home which I haven't done for years! Happy to answer any questions you might have!

Hi, I hope you don’t mind me jumping on to your thread?!
I had my ‘cancer boob’ operated on 3 weeks ago with a nipple graft and am waiting for my other boob to be reduced sometime next year.
I was wondering how long it took for your boob to feel ‘normal’? It has been 3 1/2 weeks, I started back to work almost 2 weeks ago (I work from home), and the uncomfortable ache seems to be getting worse. I am not overdoing it, not driving etc.
I also wondered how long you had to have the dressing on for?
sorry for so many questions!
