Hi I've recently been diagnosed with HER2 positive which has come as a complete shock having no family history.

Lots of appointments to attend before chemo starts in two weeks time.

I've been bombarded with such a lot of information which to be honest I find difficult to take it all in!

  • Hi, I too have a recent diagnosis. I found all the information and leaflets I was given a little overwhelming so I chose to read one piece each night rather than try to get through it all at once. I also managed to avoid googling for the first 2 weeks whilst I settled into it.

  • I've tried to avoid Google too! Good idea to read a piece each day and see if I can retain it!

  • Hi

This sounds very familiar. I was HER2+ and having Trastuzumab and Zoledronic Acid as well as the Paclitaxel, so in one week before last Christmas I had my port fitted, had flu and covid jabs, got the all clear from the dentist, had an echocardiogram - and added trips to the optician and dental hygienist for good measure. This all ahead of starting chemo in January.

I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of information - and I had no idea of the significance of a lot of what i was told at the time. So as you get chance, read all you can but stick with reputable sources such as MacMillan, Breast Cancer Now or Cancer Research as you know their info is accurate and up to date

As you get into the treatment and talk to more people you’ll get a much better understanding of what it will all involve

Good luck - it wont be as bad as you expect

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to comment.

Dentist and opticians are on my to do list for tomorrow. I've been putting things off until I'd got the date when my chemo starts.

Noted about where to stick with reading on the net
