Hi everyone. I'm starting chemo next week for lobular breast cancer. Going to try the cold cap but slightly dreading that. Feeling a bit daunted, generally, but ok.
I wanted to connect with any support out there, so hello all, and sending all my best wishes to others going through their own journey.
hello - had my first chemo yesterday - docotaxel. I tried cold cap - absolutely fine. I took a paracetamol when I arrived at hospital. Nurse said that the first ten mins are the worst - then you dont notice it.... she was absolutely right ! glad I tried it now, fingers crossed it has some impact. It was genuinely ok and do-able.
sending you best wishes for your first session next week.

Hi CapyBarbara and welcome to the forum. I’ve found it a great place for support and shared experiences. I’m still rattling around the site, nearly 7 years post diagnosis!
Good luck with your first chemo next week. Love and hugs, HFxx
Thanks Jo, that's really reassuring A few people have said if you get through the first ten minutes it will be ok
I hope you're doing ok and send my best wishes to you too xx

CapyBarbara hi welcome, I’m new on here too. Recent TPBC diagnosis. I started weekly chemo 8 days ago so have had 2 treatments. Did the cold cap both times. I was expecting toe curling pain but it was actually fine for me. Not saying that’s how everyone finds it but for me it was very manageable and I will continue with it in the hope it helps reduce hair loss. I have fine hair so can’t afford to lose too much! I take 2 paracetamol before chemo. It’s very cold so take warm clothes and a blanket if you can. I wear a puffa jacket and it works well. I also take over the ear headphones as I don’t think air pods will work well inside the cap (but I could be wrong). Wishing you well with everything.
hi, have been wondering if AirPods would work - didnt think of over ear - guess they work just as well?
best wishes
jo
I’m very new at this and others may say air pods are fine but it’s accessing them from under the Velcro cap with strap that’s the problem. Also the outer cold cap fits tightly over your ears so I personally can’t imagine then putting something in your ears to further restrict hearing the outside world. Others may disagree? Over the head ones are great though as they go over the cap and can be removed easily.
