I am new to the group so hi everyone . On Thursday I was diagnosed with breast cancer after having my biopsy results, my head is a mess and now I need to wait until tuesday for an mri scan to see if it is deeper into my breast than what could be seen during the ultrasound scan i had. My follow up appointment with the surgeon is then on the 01.08. Any ideas on how to try to get through this waiting part.
Hi
I’m new here too ,,, I was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 9th of June ,,, The waiting game for the results is the toughest part it helped with family around me and being treated just as normal,,,, It still felt quite lonely and an anxious time, but I couldn’t drive myself mad tho !!! I have now been to Chelsea Marsden and had a lumpectomyand my lymph nodes removed ,,,, thankfully there was no sign of spread edge and I’m awaiting my bone scan and radiation to start and also letrozole to begin!!! I am a fit 58 year-old and I’m worried about the side-effects for lectrozole I just still want to be me ️
Hi Snaz
Sorry you have to be here, but welcome!
This waiting part is the toughest bit by far in my opinion. Things that helped me during that time were using a journal to write down my thoughts and feelings, vent and rant as much as I wanted/needed. It helped to process things and felt a safe space for me to be honest about what I was feeling. Exercise was also incredibly helpful. It’s difficult to worry when you are physically challenging yourself and sweating! I am convinced that exercise is one of the main reasons I recovered quickly and have no ongoing issues.
It takes time to accept your diagnosis and the initial stages are full of testing and unknowns as you are experiencing. I know it’s tough, but hold onto that your team are gathering all the information they need to make your treatment plan right for your particular case.
If you have any questions, or just want to offload, then I’m sure everyone here will be happy to share their experiences and offer their support. x
Hi MG66.. I'm a fit 64 year old and have had my lumpectomy ( and a re-excision to get a better margin in one area)
