In 2019 I was diagnosed with IDC TNBC plus extensive DCIS in left breast. I had chemotherapy before surgery (lumpectomy and 2 shaves to get margins). Then had radiotherapy. All good.
2024, went for 5 year sign off appointment. Had had a cyst in my right breast for years. Surgeon asked if I wanted it removed and I agreed. Ultrasound found DCIS and the cyst disappeared weird). After 3 lumpectomy’s to get clear margins hand simple mastectomy. I healed well was given letrosol for 5 yrs bye bye.
Jan 2025. Left breast looked and felt strange. Got breast clinic appointment and after ultrasound & biopsy recurrence of IDC TNBC. June 2025 had completion mastectomy with clear margins. Histology found 62mm TNBC and widespread DCIS.
JULY 2025 I’ve now been refered to oncology and will have TC protocol (taxotere and cyclophosphamide). 4 cycles over 12 weeks. Treatment will start after a heart echo and portacath insertion.
Since Jan I’ve been lurking about the forums trying to get my head straight. It’s taken until now to accept what’s happened/is happening. I’m very lucky. I had six years after my initial diagnosis during which I have shared so many wonderful times with my lovely family. Hopefully after this round of treatment I’ll have more years and more fun. Breast cancer treatment is/can be brutal but it buys us time with loved ones and shows them that buy participating in th treatment available we are doing what we can to stay with them.
Thanks for listening
