Does anyone have any recommendations for a cream to help with chemo rash one of the drugs is giving me a bad rash on neck, face and head. My consultant said nothing will stop it because of the drug but wondering if there’s anything to sooth it. The nurses so far have given me a vitamin b cream.

Hi Geeze welcome to the forum..I'm not entirely sure if any cream will help as the cause is already known as being the chemo.. I would be tempted, purely because of being in active treatment not to use anything unless approved by the team treating you..Different creams have different ingredients and any of those could potentially cause issues with chemo. Is the cream the Nurses have given you helping at all..Gail x
I got a rash and they prescribed me epimax. I wouldn’t use anything unless prescribed.
However this did nothing for the rash and just had to stay on the ride of chemo! It’ll all end before you know it…
Now I’ve finished all treatments and most symptoms have gone - even some of the scarring on my face has gone xx
Hi Geeze, sorry to hear of your skin reactions to chemo.
I have to say I had hideous skin side effects with Paclitaxel. Some of the effects were less rashes and more like burns.
My oncologist did prescribe various steroid creams and emollients. I'm not sure if they helped or not. It did feel a bit like it had to work it's way out. They also wanted to reduce my dose but I refused that.
I would keep mentioning it. There may be something else that can be tried.
Mine was on my bum, upper thighs, lower legs and feet.I found emollients and loose clothing most useful. I also had Epsom salt baths.
Wishing you all the best. Shaka
It has been confirmed it’s definitely a reaction to the drugs so unfortunately no cream will resolve it. I just wondered if anyone had used anything to calm it down a bit. The cream was from the nurses it does sooth it for a short period but doesn’t calm it. Something I just need to put up with.

Yeah I did read about epimax, at the moment I’m just using what the nurses gave me it’s just a vitamin b cream it does sooth it for a short period doesn’t calm it down tho. I may speak to the doctor as well consultant wasn’t really suggesting anything because obviously it’s a reaction to the drug.

Yeah that’s the same I’ve been told mines a rash from that drug too. Obviously it’s something I’m going to have to deal with I’m using vitamin b cream what the nurses gave me it sooths for a short period doesn’t calm it down tho and mine itches too. Might speak to my doctor as the consultant wasn’t really suggesting anything just said it’s the drug doing it.

Hello .I had a,rash on my neck and chest .I was told to take a anti histamine to help with the itching and to moisturise the area, and stay out if the sun .
All 3 helped especially with the itching and soreness. When I had my next round I started taking the antihistamine 3 days before and the, rash didn't appear to be,do serve ?
I’ve tried moisturiser some does help but I haven’t tried an anti histamine I’ll try that. Each week the rash gets worse on my face it’s like acne everywhere. I’ve noticed its going down my back now as well. So it’s my head, face, neck and creeping down back. I’ll have a go and the anti histamine.
thank you
I had it on my neck and chest .I was told to take antihistamines to help with the itching and use E45 cream .
Hi there,
I also had a bad rash from chemo on my hands, feet and chest.
I was given steroid creams and antistamins whi h helped. Also a very thick moisturising cream. I have finished chemo a mk th ago and while the rash and faded and it's not itchy or painful anymore, it's had t vanished completely.
I would ask your Oncologist to give you something to help. Even if it's an expected side effect from the drugs there could be creams to help soothe you a bit
However I wpuld not apply anything if not prescribed from the doctor
