Hi.. I’m a newbie in this club none of us want to be a member of!!
Had my Lumpectomy Wednesday so still feeling a bit like I’ve been hit by a bus…
love & positive healing vibes to you all
Hi SJM,
Welcome, glad you've had your op. It's a bit of a journey both mentally and physically. I had my lumpectomy this time last year. I was fully healed physically after a couple of weeks. Take care of yourself. Rest just now and let the healing occur.
I have had op, chemo radiotherapy and now on hormone suppressants. I am back at work and managing well.
It was a year I don't want to repeat but doable. We are strong fighters.
I post this to let you know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Once treatment starts you have something to focus on.
Good luck with your treatment and recovery. Keep us updated and ask questions as you go along. Lots of advise support on these forums for people at all different stages or through treatments.
Sending hugs and positivity your way xx
Thank you so much, for your reply, my 1st..
Im so lost at the moment and very unsure of how I’m feeling about anything to be honest all happened so quickly, which I know is good, but messed with my head big time..
I’m unsure of anything that happened in surgery on Wednesday what ?? and who I should be asking, consultant did pop his head in, but I was still to out of it..
You have helped me to think there is a light at the end of this tunnel, whatever lies ahead!
So glad you are having some normality again
Take care xx
Hang in there. It's so scary but you will take control again. It's amazing what they can do now.
Sending hugs xx
Hi SJM
It’s early days, hopefully you will be feeling better from your surgery too. I think it’s not unusual to not get a lot of feedback after the op. I didn’t see my surgeon after and my results were given to me by a consultant BCN rather than the surgeon. But, she did an incredible job so no complaints from me!
Like Missymolly my recovery was relatively quick and straightforward with only a couple of little hiccups. I had radiotherapy and been on tamoxifen for a year. Today I am healthier and happier than I’ve ever been so there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Best of luck with everything. x
Take control of your head before it takes control of you!!
I am the mother of triplets so don’t scare easily, but this bomb had blindsided me…
lotsa love xx
Hi, I had my lumpectomy surgery for level 2 IDC, hormone very positive, HER2 negative in one breast, and also an encapsulated 1cm pre cancerous lump in the other breast at the end of March. I was called in to see the consultant 2 or 3 weeks later, once they had the results back from the tissue which was taken out. So I am sure you will hear from the hospital shortly.
I needed a re-excision to as some pre-cancerous cells were very close to the edge of the margin that they had taken from the IDC lump. That was a much easier surgery about 4 weeks ago and thankfully all was clear-which again took 2-3 weeks for the results.
I'm now on Letrazole for 5 years and have a phone appointment in 2 weeks time with the oncologist to discuss radiotherapy. I think I may be just needing 5 sessions. I'm returning to work in just over a weeks time ( on a phased return).
So, all in all I have had 4 months off, as I initially took some time after my biopsies and pre-surgery to just have the chance to get my head around things, and to keep as stress free as i could. I would probably have been back at work a couple of weeks ago had I not needed a 2nd surgery.
I'm looking forward to wearing a normal bra again instead of the compression ones, but will be needing some extra infill for one boob as it is definitely smaller now. Altho probably not noticeable to others as much as I notice it. Pleased to say tho that I still have a decent cleavage lol.
It's a definite rollercoaster once the process starts isn't it? But I must say that I have found everyone at the hospital to be lovely, reassuring and really hehelpful.
I hope you recover swiftly. But dont try and do too much too soon xxx
