Hi everyone, my name is Des. I was recently diagnosed with stage 1, Grade IDC and had a lumpectomy and sentinel lobe biopsy 3 weeks ago.
Hi LuckyD.
Thank you . I have healed from the surgery and the breast cancer has been removed completely. Unfortunately, the SNB showed that 2 of the 5 nodes which were removed are cancerous. I have chosen not to do further surgery. I am waiting results of further tests whether I should do chemotherapy. If yes, I will need to do chemotherapy first, radiation then and hormonal therapy next. Still, I am lucky I caught this early
I'm so glad you are recovering and all the cancer was removed - great news when there hasn't been much.
I had a mastectomy and axillary clearance in October last year (multiple lumps and at least 1 dodgy node on scan/MRI). I had 3 nodes out of 26 had cancer, with a local metastasis - this is what earned me chemo (and margins not quite clear). Not my favourite past time, but doable. I then had 3 weeks radiotherapy and am currently on abemaciclib and hormone therapy.
I can't say it will always be easy, but it is manageable and the teams are very supportive.
you only need radiotherapy and hormone therapy, but you'll get through it either way.
I hope you don't have to wait too long for your plan and sending best wishes.
