Hello everyone, hope everyone is having a good day.
I am 44 & i was diagnosed initially with high Grade DCIS with micro invasion. I opted to have a mastectomy as was told this was my best chance of being done with it once & for all.
I had my mastectomy of left breast in July & all went well with that. Unfortunately my pathology results came back that some of the DCIS had turned invasive so had grade 2 ductal cancer. My lymph nodes were clear thankfully. I tested HER2 + & my oncotype test came back scoring 24.
I met with my oncologist yesterday who has advised I start chemo in the next few weeks. I’m having Docetaxel, Carboplatin & Trastuzumab (Herceptin) and also another drug to strengthen my bones (I forget it’s name)
I just feel so overwhelmed by all the info & so scared of everything to come. I don’t know anyone else who has been through this so thought I’d introduce me (Jacqueline) & my story & meet some of you lovely people whom I can hopefully get to know & share experiences with.
lots of love J x
Hi Jacqueline,
I was diagnosed with her2 negative, erpostitve and prpositive, grade 3 in May this year.its a very scary journey, however the anxiety will lessen a bit when you start your treatment plan.
I had a lumpectomy and removal of sentinels nodes in June. I then went onto have 4, 3weekly cycles of EC chemo. I have just finished 3 weeks of radiotherapy this week. I have commenced on Letrozole and am awaiting dates for bone infusions.
On this forum you will chat with various individuals who are all at different stages of treatments and recovery.
My best advise is kee a journal of any side effects to discuss with team and hopefully alleviate next treatment. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body. Rest when you need to. Fatigue was the biggest challenge for me, it's getting less but I'm still shattered.

I wish you well on your recovery, happy to answer any questions that might be helpful if I can xx
Hi MrsB I was 75 when diagnosed with Her2-positive mucinous breast cancer and started Chemotherapy along with phesgo which is a combination of Herceptin with another drug I can’t tell you how shocked I was.
after chemo I had a mastectomy and am now on preventative treatment which is Herceptin injections ever three weeks for a total of 1 year, letrozole tablet daily for 5 years and zolotronic acid infusions twice yearly for 3 years.
it all seems quite daunting at first but once your treatment starts you become less afraid and the oncology team take good care of you and it’s surprisingly how quickly it all passes.
Don't hesitate to ask questions on this forum as there are so many lovely people ready to help.
Good luck with your recovery Xxx
Hi, there is a good thread on breast cancer now for Her2+ women. My advice is just take one treatment at a time. You will have some side effects from the treatment but you won’t get every side effect. The next year won’t be easy but neither will it be horrendous and it will soon pass. Sending a virtual hug
Hi, thank you for taking the time to reply.
it feels comforting being able to talk to someone who understands.
Thank you for the tips, I will definitely use the journal to keep track of everything, I hadn’t thought of that.
Wishing you well also xx
