Hi, I had a mastectomy without reconstruction in April and further surgery in May to remove a large hematoma. The skin over my chest is very thin and still stained from the hematoma also it is still tender to touch in places and numb in other places.
Breast nurse said it’s to be expected but would be interested in others experiences

Hi Skylark and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you Larchbrook I will do that and that you for taking the time to reply it is so kind of you
Hi Skylark , I had a lumpectomy/ wide local excision rather than a mastectomy but my breast is still tender in places nearly 6 years on! And weirdly some of the tender areas are nowhere near the long incision down the side, some are at the opposite side. I assume it’s from the radiotherapy but I don’t really know. It’s most noticeable when I have my annual mammograms (or had…. I’m about to go back on the 3 yearly screening) and physical examination. The other side can be poked and prodded with no discomfort but the treated side feels it! I take paracetamol before mammograms which definitely helps. I have just accepted it as my ‘new normal’ now. I also had numbness at the side and around my armpit which I think was from the sentinel node sampling. Plus a carpet burn sensation in that area too. I can’t remember how long that took to go. Hope yours eases soon, do get anything checked out that is worrisome. Love and hugs, HFxx
Thank you Happyfeet1 for taking the time to reply I know it’s probably still early days but still can’t help worrying.
Gled to hear you are recovering well. Xxx
