Hi I’m new to this, hope I’ve got it right. I was diagnosed with tnbc, following lumpectomy, I am waiting to start chemotherapy, and am nervous I would be grateful for any tips or advice please.
Hi min1
sorry to hear you’ve been diagnosed with TNBC. I had this happen too after my lumpectomy in November and have chemo starting in 2 weeks so I don’t know if your time frame will be similar.
Do you know which one you’ll be having yet?
There’s lots of support on this forum and from your breast care team.
It seems that everyone has slightly different route and responses so just keep chatting.
Hi min1
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer over three years ago. After having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I made a complete recovery.
Try to keep yourself busy while waiting to start chemo doing things that you love to do. Get out in the fresh air everyday even if only for a short while.
While having chemo make sure you drink plenty of fluids to help flush out your system. You will be given medication to help with any side effects you may have. You will also be given the number to the chemo ward in case you need to give them ring if you feel unwell between chemo sessions and you will also get an out of hours number to ring if you feel unwell when your chemo ward is closed.
Make sure you bring plenty of things to keep yourself occupied while you are on the chemo ward as there can be a bit of waiting around particularly if you are cold capping. Bring some snacks with you in case you feel hungry, though your chemo ward may provide something to eat.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.
Best wishes

I’m having 3 rounds of EC too followed by 3 Docetaxel so we’ll be similar.
Having lots of water seems to be very good advice.
Let’s hope the first round goes well.
after that I think it will be easier to understand what will happen and hopefully we won’t be so nervous.
Good luck
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and welcome to the group. You will get lot of support.
I had DCIS and ended up with mastectomy. Had EC and now have started weekly Palictaxel, 3rd one being yesterday. So far I haven’t had any side effects from both! I’m still managing to work full time. We are all different. I’ve got 9 weeks of Palictaxel to go yet so we will see.
good luck and let us know how you are getting on. xx
