I had my first lot of chemo 10 days ago, I’m still quite fatigued. It’s ok if I stay in the house. I only felt comfortable doing a short walk around the block by myself yesterday and also felt like mildly inebriated due to chemo brain. How long is this likely to last. Also I’m not looking forwards to my next chemo as I’m told it gets worse each session. I’m wondering what to expect. I was hoping I’d be able to work part time , but now I’m thinking no chance
Hi forest, i found on day three it started and lasts for a week, just start to feel better by next blood test, then new treatment, that being said, i would say, drink lots of water, during chemo i drank at least 1.5 litres a day at least, (juices count, i found i could only tolerate pink lemonade (made w lemons) for awhile, cranapple juice was also nice when water became so bleh), on top of coffee in the morning. and yes i was up in the night to wee, but the solution to pollution is dilution.
also be sure to get lots of protein and veggies and fruit into you, sometimes i would just force myself to eat an apple because while i didnt fancy it, it did make me feel a bit better, i also craved meat when i was in chemo and think it helps body to repair. hugs. eat as your body needs teh energy, whatever you can stand or want.
and keep moving, even a bit. i did stretches sometimes, but wish i moved a bit more, it is too easy to become sedentary and grow moss.
Hi DJCT
Thanks for replying. I think I am just stating to feel a little bit better each day the last 3 days which is a relief as the first week was pretty horrible. My tastebuds are just starting improve too, from everything tasting pretty bland, and my stomach has finally settled, which hopefully means Christmas Day at my Mothers will be manageable. Thanks for the tip about drinking water. I think I should be drinking more. I also have been taking a multivitamin and mineral every day which I also think helps but I do that anyway. I’m not looking forwards to going through this all again on the 5th Jan, but I know it is necessary. I’m also doing the cold cap. I haven’t had any hair loss yet but I’m told this starts from day 14?
Have a great Christmas
hope you have good christmas too, and food tastes nice
j️ust try yo find small things that make you feel happier, i went through a chicken soup and cracker phase. and yes hair loss is two-ish weeks, i was on two week intervals so second chemo i still had hair but shortly thereafter lost swathes
