Had mastectomy using LDoris in June had large seroma drained few times, had to go back into hospital have pigtail drain in for 5 days 950ml drained from seroma them another 750ml. Few weeks ago I felt seroma was filling up again hospital has said it should go away but it’s nearly 6 month it feels like a hot water bottle in my back anyone had similar problems with seroma.
Hi, I had my mastectomy in March, and my surgeon never used drains he preferred the body to absorb it! So I had a seroma but mine turned in what they call a chyle leak, fat from the tummy finds its way into the vacant cavity. Was massive! Had a total of 1,800 mls drained. Needed to go on a fat free diet for 2 months which was not easy! They didn't want to keep draining it because of infection,I then ended up with cellulitis which took months to go. Are they checking the colour of the fluid? Mine was milky which meant it wasn't just a seroma. I totally understand how you're feeling. It will go but can take ages xx
Hi when it was last drained it was a pinky colour not been drained for few month but over last few weeks iv felt it fill up again I’d have thought it would be getting better not filling up again, thank you for replying hope you have a speedy recovery xx
I had lumpectomy hat massive problems with seroma ended up with wound being derided and restitched under local anisthetic and a fortnight of antibiotics, they took out stitches a week later only to find that it hadn't joined so left with a very large hole which had to be packed and dressed 3 times a week, it's now healed but I have a horrible scar.
They are going to reduce my other boob to match next year so will definitely insist on a drain this time l hope they sort you out soon xxx
I had drains in after surgery then had to have seroma drained about 6 weeks later a few times before having to go back into hospital to get pigtail drain in where nearly 2000 mls was drained now about 8-10 weeks later I feel it’s filling back up but breast nurse thinks it will absorb itself it’s like having a water bottle in your back.
