I had 13 rounds of chemo out of 15  . Finished early dur to medical team thinking I didn't need more  Had surgery which showed I had a 99% response to chemo, so pathology showed remaining 1% removed during surgery . Now being offered Kadcyla every 3 weeks which will mean 14 chemo sessions . I'm elated that I've been told that I'm cancer free but upset thinking even 1 more chemo session could have avoided this . Would love to know if anyone has experienced this or similar and had kadcyla.  Had thought all that was left now was herceptin injections and radiotherapy

  • Hi Magic Miracle

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with breast cancer.  I had 8 out of 8 rounds of chemo when I was diagnosed over three years ago and I didn't have a complete response to chemo so my oncologist put me on capecitabine for 8 rounds after I had my surgery.

Wishing you the best of luck with your further treatment.

  • Thanks Daisy 53. Basically what they want me to have now is further chemo over 42 weeks together with radiation and pills to take for 10 years and injectionsxevery 6 months . Have read all the side effects and wondering if it's worth it. Not ashamed to say I'm suicidal

  • I am sure you  are feeling very difficult over the future, but I have sort of come to the conclusion that Cancer is the new norm.  We are happy to take tablets for hyper tension, thyroid, diabeties, or heart problems for the rest of our lives, is cancer the new norm?  Maybe...... thinking about you and all the time there are new drugs.... chemo no longer has the terrible side affects it used to, well not all the time.

  • Anki thanks . I think what really has got to me is I finished chemo 2 sessions early because they thought there was no advantage in continuing because my lumps had decreased so much. Then surgery discovered I only had 1% of cancer left which was removed. Now I think if 10 sessions got rid of 99% ofcthe cancer, what would completing the other 2 have done?  Answer is, I wouldnt have to every 3 weeks until end of next May for more. I had no bad side effects so this really annoys and upsets me. My oncologists response was "Well we will never know now if finishing the course would have meant a complete response"

  • You are MAGIC MIRACLE. Please stay strong Muscle. You WIN this fight. We WILL overcome this dreadful virus. Whatever it takes, we will WIN. I'm starting 4 rounds of Chemo, 4 rounds of immunotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy in that order. I will WIN this ffight.

Hugs to you and all of us.

    1. Oh gosh! That makes me so sad that you mention the S word! I have just been told 6 weeks after being diagnosed with BC that I have suspected secondary liver cancer! If someone told me I could take anything to give me 10 more years I would be Delerious! Haha. I’m taking one day at a time and determined that this will not ruin what life I might have left. Look at the best things you have and live your best life.wishing you the best and sending you love and hugs. Xxxx
  • Way to go Engee!!!  Pretty much the same as myself except I dont get the immunotherapy.

  • I may be wrong but I understand that the radiotherapy (which you are having after?) wipes out any chance of a return.  I think I would have been happy with that news...... it shrank that much? Hope all goes well.

  • Hi Magic Miracle

How are you feeling today?  Why give the Macmillan helpline a ring on 0808 808 00 00 to talk to one of the volunteers about how you are feeling?  They can even arrange counselling for you if you wish.

  • Hi Anji

While I don't want to give you or the others on this thread a fright I had Radiotherapy after my first bout of cancer three years ago and unfortunately it didn't stop my cancer coming back earlier this year.
