I have just been diagnosed with stage 1 tubular breast cancer and will be having surgery this week followed by radiation therapy and hormone blockers. Not sure what go expect or how to feel. I am a full time home carer too. Any advise or tips.
Hi WillowSunflower
Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. You won't be able to do any heavy lifting for about 4 to 6 weeks after the operation. You should be given a leaflet before you go home with a set of arm exercises to do everyday while you recover from the operation. There is no right or wrong way to feel about a cancer diagnosis just do whatever you need to do to get through this. It usually takes about 5 weeks after an operation to have your Radiotherapy as you will need the time to heal.
Wishing you the best of luck with your operation and whatever further treatment you will have.
Best wishes

Hi, I was diagnosed with tubular breast cancer September 2023. I had it in three areas in my right breast and sentinel node removed. Node was clear but there was DCIS found in the margins so I had a second operation 14th December. I had two weeks radiotherapy we 6th February. Apparently you don’t need chemo for tubular cancer. It’s hard to detect but good prognosis. I’ll be thinking about you. All the best. Xx
Thank you. I was relieved to be told I didn't need chemo. Many thanks for sharing. X
