Hi all.
just popped by to say that I was diagnosed with a large DCIS last week. Total shock as it was picked up from a routine mammogram. I have to have a mastectomy and I’m terrified to be honest. Never had surgery before! Plus I’m self employed and worried about how much time I’ll need off. I’d like a reconstruction but not sure what my options are. Any advice/ experiences would be helpful xx love and strength to you all
Hey, I wish I'd thought of your intro and, thanks for making me smile! Saying hi as in similar place, and feeling for you. Also just gone back to self employed with relevant concerns (skint). My timing impeccable as always. Best to you x
Hi. Lol. Yes never wanted to be in this gang either but what a supportive and strong bunch they are.
Feel for you as I was diagnosed with dcis and invasive bc after routine mammogram this time last year.. Had my mastectomy in Nov 23. Apart from caserareans I had never had an op.
I choose an implant as I didnt want to deal with another part of my body being in pain. Fat from my stomach or muscle from my back. Each to their own.
I was off work for 4 months but everyone is different.
Feel free to ask anything u like.
Sending big hugs x
Yea I’ve only just gone self employed too. Genius move once again! Lots of love to you x
To qualify, I know nothing about any of these processes \treatments - looks a pretty steep learning curve, and like we may become fluent in cold caps and cancer lingo pretty soon..... only thing I could share.that may be relevant is I have had several surgeries and care and pain management been well handled and bearable and I am total wimp! I am 56 and had 2 breast lumpectomy 30 years ago, 2 ceseareans (1 was twins) and a total hip replacement 2 years ago. I have felt like a pin cusion :)
Maybe not your thing but breathing techniques \meditation (I only dabble - loads of experts out there) definitely made it less worse. Clean, pressed cotton sheets changed every day in hospital were ce. I'm sure everyone reacts differently but my advice is take the Senna they give you (first time round I said no because I thought I wouldn't need it) the general anaesthetic gave.me the.worst constipation
Love to you too
X
