Hi I have had 3 cycles of FEC and now due to have 3 Docetaxel.
I am absolutely terrified after reading the reviews. Does anyone have any positive experiences with this drug.
Many thanks
Hi Whisper, I had EC first and then 4 cycles of Docetaxel. I found Docetaxel was easy compared to EC. I did have some side effects like metallic taste in mouth, restless legs, tiredness and I did start to get peripheral neuropathy which has resolved its self a lot since finishing chemo. I worked from my 3rd cycle of EC and continued to work throughout all 4 cycles of Docetaxel.
The list of side effects is scary but remember it’s very unlikely you would have all! The nurses are on hand and if you feel odd or need help they will talk to you straight away to resolve any issue. I found chatting to them whilst I was having my infusions would help as it would take my mind off things. Keep positive, drink plenty of water and try if you can to do a little walking. Do things you enjoy to give you a boost if you are feeling a bit down with any side effect. I found that helped a lot then I had down days
Wishing you all the best
Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x
Thank you I feel a little more positive
I guess it's the fear of the unknown
The FEC was very draining for me it took me 10 days to start to feel normal.
I hope you are doing OK now
Hugs back xxxx
Hi Whisper,
I’m due to have my 4th round of Docetaxel on Friday plus Phesgo and Carboplatin, I have to be honest the Docetaxel has made me feel very sick, I’m okay for the first 5 days very tired but no sickness to start.
The first two cycles I was sick the 3rd one I wasn’t but felt nauseous, the Oncologist has given me stronger anti-sickness so maybe that has helped.
I’ve found for about 2 weeks everything tastes so bad I struggle to eat, especially butter and cheese which I love, also a bit of constipation to start then after a few days it goes to the other extreme.
The side effects for me might be a combination of the drugs I’m on, so hoping you don’t suffer. I just felt I needed to be honest.
I’m wishing you lots of luck on this journey.
Thank you for being honest
I know everyone is different but I like to know what I might expect.
What did you find to eat that satisfied your taste buds?
I like you like butter and cheese lol
My oncologist said she would start me on a lower dose of Docetaxel due to my anxiety.
The FEC made me constipated for a week even though I had Laxido and Senna!!
I had many other side effects so glad that is over.
I hope all goes well on Friday for you. Xx
I found I could eat Chicken Soup and Tomato Soup, and ice cream, I struggled with drinks and found I went off tea and coffee, but could drink full fat coke something I’ve never really liked.
I have my Chemo every 3 weeks and still can’t stomach Cheese but butter is okay now, 2 weeks after my cycle.
I had a sore mouth for a few days but mouthwash sorted that out, and a few stomach cramps.
Hopefully you won’t suffer too much everyone is different, I will be glad to finish this, by the end of the second week I start to feel normal again.
Let me know how you get on and the best of luck.
Hi, I found Docetaxel easier to tolerate. I also read the people experience and was really worried. The first few days you wont feel much difference and then you feel weak in your muscles. I carried on my walking exercise all the way through. The bad taste in the mouth is annoying but it will pass. I hope you find it eadier like myself. Xx
