Hi all, I feel a bit of a fraud coming on here but just wanted a bit of advice and to share what seems like a super long story. In April I went to the Doctors with bloody nipple discharge. Had an emergency mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy, marker put in. The results came through benign but my MDT were not happy with what they had seen on the ultrasound & mammogram. They referred me for a Vacumn assisted biopsy. The appointment came through beginning of June and when they did the ultrasound there was no lump by the marker but there was a lump in another area. They decided not to do a VAB but a needle core biopsy instead and left a marker. The biopsy came back with atypical cells. MDT requested an MRI that I had in early July. I heard nothing until I had a phone call asking I attend a Vacuum assisted biopsy on 2 September. At this appointment they used the VAB to remove the lump but also found another lump that they took a biopsy from that didn’t show on the MRI. I know have 4 markers in my right breast. It’s been such a long process, is this the norm? I am so sorry to reach out as I know you ladies have enough on your plates, but I am getting a bit worn down by it all. I received a letter last week saying that my MRI results had only show the area of concern and that a VAB would take place, even though it had already happened and a plan would be put in place after the biopsy. Why would I have a plan when they have removed the area by VAB? Xx
Hi. Everyone’s situation seems so unique to them but I did have three separate biopsies, loads of mammograms, ultrasounds and an MRI before I finally got a plan of action. They are very careful to formulate the best course of action and treatment plan. The VAB is just a biopsy. I don’t think it removes an entire area of concern. It’s really difficult waiting for results. I hope it will be good news but if it’s not then there are great treatments available and every reason to be positive. Good luck x
