Recently diagnosed with ILC

Hello,

I was recently diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (Stage 2), and I had a mastectomy and immediate reconstruction with an implant. I was very worried about starting hormone therapy treatment with Anastrozole, which I've been taking for two months, but so far I feel fine. The diagnosis was a big shock. Waiting for the initial biopsy results and then the weeks leading up to the mastectomy were the hardest. I have full mobility in my arm, but sometimes it still feels tired and sore with numbness and tingling in the fingers. How long will this tingling, arm tiredness continue? Does anyone have any advice on this. I'm continuing with the exercises and have gone back to the gym, because I'm determined to keep fit and build up my strength.

Trying to stay active and positive!

  • Hi CoralPeony

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you were recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  The numbness and tingling in the fingers can last for a year but that is by no means certain.  I suggest that you ring your breast care nurse and explain the symptoms you are having and they will be able to give you a better idea about how long it can last.

It's good that you are staying active and positive but if you feel like crying and screaming do or come on here to talk about how you are feeling.  All of us here will understand and no one will judge you.

Wishing you the best of luck with everything.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Daisy53,

Thank you for your kind message and advice. I'll contact my breast care nurse soon to discuss the symptoms in my arm. It's great to have a forum for venting any feelings of sadness or frustration, and to know that there's a community that really understands what we're all going through.
