  1. Had breast cancer since I found out just before Christmas, did six months chemotherapy and just had a breast removed and waiting for further chemotherapy on Monday. I'm a Man by the way.
  2. Moving forward I have to have a Trastuzumab emtansine as a chemotherapy treatment, 14 treatment's every 3 week's. Does anyone know what the side effects are from this type of chemo drug.
  3. The last lot of chemo wasn't that bad I was wondering if this was going to be the same?
  • Hi Thatman

    Welcome.

Pleased to hear that your first chemo wasn’t too bad. Hopefully someone on here will be able to feed back about their experiences of your new treatment.

  • welcome thatman, sorry you are here but hope we can help you in this ongoing event (hate the word journey for some reason, maybe because to me journeys should be more positiveThinking, i digress)

sorry i don’t have information on the drug you are yet to take, a quick google says its also known as Kadcyla (spelling ?)and i think there may be a thread on that already

  • Hi Thatman

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with breast cancer.  If you want to talk to other men who have breast cancer there is a thread called Blokes with Breast Cancer.  Here's the link to that thread: BLOKES WITH BREAST CANCER .

Wishing you the best of luck with your next lot of treatment.

    Best wishes

Thanks, I've read about it and feel a bit better as it seems the side affects are not so bad. Hopefully I might be able to get back to some sort work soon.

I think it's changed a bit since the first post. I've been treated very well by health care team in Exeter. I did post on it to see if I'd get a reply on the treatment but after reading the other Thumbsup tone1 someone posted I feel loads better about it. Thank you Thumbsup tone1

  • keep checking in with us, i know it can seem lonely in a place full of women but lots of support available and we are just people going though same issues. glad the thread helped

Definitely will as it's helped already. If I can share my experience maybe it can help other people as well. Being a Man hasn't really been a problem if anything it's been a bonus for the medical students as I've had a few present during examinations at the request of the doctor or consultant.
