Good morning all.

i am 6weeks post op after a single mastectomy ...

I have been told by my oncologist that the nrxt step is 12x 3weekly cycles of Kadcyla to address the Her2 part of my initial tumours.

My question is  .have any of you experienced this drug and how are you finding it.

I was very poorly on chemo and had every side effect and more...i feel so well now and dont want to revisit the way i felt on chemo

  • Hi Puglady

While I haven’t any experience of Kadcyla I noticed that you haven’t had any answers yet so I thought I’d reply to you to move you to the top of the discussion. Hopefully someone with the relevant experience will be along shortly.

    Best wishes

  • Thank you ..maybe it's not a common treatment

  • Hi puglady

I had 14 rounds of Kadcyla every three weeks.

We are all different but my experience was really good. I was lucky to have my infusions on a Friday. I felt a little tired straight after , but the next day was fine and was OK to be back in work on the monday.

Like you I was poorly on my chemo and ended up in hospital twice.

Hope your treatment goes well and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask . I finished my treatment 18 months ago

  • Hi, I am 9 cycles in with Kadcyla 5 to go.  Very few side effects, carrying on with life as normal.  Wishing you the best for your treatment. X

  • That's certainly helpful thank you ..how did you get on regarding your hair?. Mine is beginning to grow back.   Does the treatment make you loose it again?

  • That's a positive thing thank you...what sort of side effects have you? And how long do they last between each cycle?

  • no you don't lose your hair with Kadcyla it carried on growing throughout treatment.

  • great to hear...how long have you bern on it?

    any side effects?

are you able to continue to work?

    • Hi Puglady, Went through similar to you & put on Kadcyla after single mascetomy. Kadcyla is tiring but side affects are far less worse than previous chemo treatment. Hope this helps you. x
  • I have finished my treatment now, had 14 rounds of it every 3 weeks and apart from  feeling tired  for about 24 hours after I felt fine. I also worked full time throughout the treatment.
