Hi I go to get my biopsy results on Tuesday 29th. I am expecting the worse as Dr said fairly sure was cancer when he did the biopsy.
I need help with advice on questions to ask when I go and get results, things you asked, things you wish you asked. I will be taking my husband with me and a note pad. Has anyone recorded their meeting.
I have heard of people recording meetings but ask permission before you do. Have your notepad handy around the house and anything you think of write it down and take with you. And ask husband to do the same. I reeled off a load of questions to my surgeon and did the same when I first met oncologist and the chemo team at hospital. The nurse at chemo unit raised her eyes when I pulled out my pad of questions. And if you think of any questions after put them on here if they aren't too specific to your results and chances are someone might have an answer on here

Hi Alison218 , like you I was told at initial consultation after having mammogram, ultrasound and biopsies, that it was very likely cancer. I took hubby for results appointment too but don’t think I took a notepad. Now I always do! My current surgeon is lovely and never seems to mind my list of questions. Things I’d have asked at results appointment….1. What are the options? - I was simply told that I’d have a wide local excision/ lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy, then likely radiotherapy and hormone treatment. I wish I’d asked whether I could choose mastectomy instead of op plus radiotherapy, as apparently the long term outcome is pretty much the same in my particular brand of beast. I still might have opted for the smaller op but would have liked to have had the choice (mastectomy would have meant no need for radiotherapy in my case). 2. What timescale is likely for any treatment? - obviously they can’t be exact but good to have rough idea. 3. Are any further tests necessary 4. If you’re having an op, what are the rules re anyone going in with you - I had mine pre Covid but was surprised when we got to the day surgery unit that my husband couldn’t come in at all! I expected to wait alone on the ward as have had other minor ops but had been allowed someone to come in with me to the ward entrance. I was given a number for breast nurse team to contact if any queries and I’m sure you’ll be given that, but would add to list of questions just in case. Think that’s it! Will add any more if I think of them and I’m sure others will have suggestions.
Will be thinking of you on the 29th, love and hugs, HFxx
Thank you Happyfeet for your info and experiences, when hubby his AAA op they tried to stop me waiting with him but stayed and walked him to theatre, I worked at the hospital for 19 yrs so they just hid us behind the curtains I hope I can get him to stay with me too, otherwise will ask a couple of friends that still work there if they can come visit in their uniforms. X
There is a list of questions on this site, I found them and they helped me to prepare. Will try to find them and post.

I also asked about the onco type test, but I think I asked that after surgery.
