Hi
Diagnosed with stage 2 DCIS in June after finding a lump a month after a clear mammogram.
Had to stop HRT immediately and currently feel as though the hot flushes and joint pain are worse than the cancer.
Going in for a lumpectomy on Bank Holiday Monday and then we'll see what the next step is.
Biopsy area feels more tender and has pain twinges which I suppose is only natural.
Swinging between numb and overwhelmed but trying to be positive and get organised for after the op.
My late mum had the same thing, same side and recovered after treatment so hanging on to that.
hi, I'm sorry about your recent diagnosis. It must be such a shock after just having a clear mammogram! I had a similar scenario with my mammogram the year before being clear too. Interestingly you say your mum also had bc. Mine did too! My mum was an avid diary keeper and I actually have her bc diary from 1989. I literally feel like I'm walking in her footsteps. It's a comfort somehow to me that she too went through this and came through the other side. I tell myself if she did it, so can I, it keeps me positive when I dread the treatment coming up. You can read my story if you click on my name. I have found it very helpful reading everyone's stories altho I am relatively new to posting on here. I would say yes, deffo normal for tender biopsy area! Getting organised will keep you busy. I had my bag ready for a fortnight prior to my op, that way my head felt clear and I could remain focused for the big day. I wish you all the very best of everything and hope you have a successful surgery xx
Take care, Lisa x
Hi Sorbus welcome to the club that no one wants to join. I'm glad you've found this forum and hope you find it useful. I’m over 2 years since diagnosis (click on my name to read my story) and also had a lumpectomy though I had chemo first as my lump was quite large.
I think what you're feeling is pretty normal, I know I tried hard to be positive but there were days when it was all a bit too much but I think being kind to yourself is really important right now. Best wishes for your surgery next week
