I’m new today. Hoping that my lumpectomy surgery will go ahead on Friday and feeling a little anxious.
Hi Montys mum , and welcome to the forum. A club none of us would choose to join but a great place for support and shared experiences. Very natural to feel anxious at this stage, I felt a lot better once treatment started, which for me was lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy, followed by going on hormone therapy (Anastrozole) then 3 weeks radiotherapy. Can’t believe it’s nearly 5 years since my diagnosis. Is your possible treatment plan anything like mine? You can read people’s profiles by clicking on their username, and when you feel ready complete your own if you want to (it’s not compulsory! But useful I think).
Hope all goes ahead as planned, I tried to keep busy in the build up to my op to try to keep myself from dwelling on it. Easy to say though! Will be thinking of you on Friday, keep posting and let us know how it’s going. Love and a big virtual hug, HFxx
Thank you so much HappyFeet. Yes, my case sounds very much like yours. I’m so grateful for the screening process which picked up the tiny bugger (my name for the little beast) which would have gone undetected for a very long time I feel.
I’m keeping positive and actually more worried about the anaesthetic than the process though also just hoping things go ahead on Friday. My consultant isn’t striking but a lot depends on whether he can get a team together. So my fingers are crossed very firmly. I’m looking forward to the bugger being evicted and for other treatments to kick in which remove the cosy home and restaurant it thought it had found.
I’ve had a lot of support from most of my family and friends which is lovely.
So glad that you have been clear for so long, incredibly encouraging and positive to hear. I’m keeping busy, a pile of ironing on the agenda tomorrow, as well as some time with my daughters and grandchildren. Thank you for your words and wishes.
Monty’s mum xx
Hi Montys mum , will just add that, re anaesthetics, I’ve had many as I seem to like to grow random lumps and bumps! Have had several uterine polyps removed, and a benign breast lump many years ago. Weirdly I rather like an anaesthetic! Have never had bad effects and sleep like a log the night after! Hope you have the same experience. And fingers crossed for it all going ahead as planned xxx
