Hi all

Not really sure what to put here. Diagnosed with breast cancer and on 27th need a mastectomy then a implant it breast reduction on left breast and some lymph nodes removed and as time is getting closer I am getting more terrified

  • I understand you very well, been there, i feel you but you have to tell yourself always that you will be ok and you will be ok, we need to accept and face our fear, we always imagine the worst but iPraynot what we think until we go through, we need to chose hope instead of fear, i am next for chimo and i am terrified but i choose to believe that i will be ok PrayPrayPray

  • Hi Debbie02

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.  It's perfectly understandable that you are feeling scared of what's ahead of you. You will be well looked after by your medical team and they will do everything in their power to make sure you come out at the other side of this.

Wishing you the best of luck with your operation on the 27th.

    Best wishes

  • I do get this, it's about programming yourself to get through it. Operations themselves are like that, this one is more scary. Get the fear out of the way, then tell yourself as Kikielina says ' all will be well ' I told them when I was going into the anaesthetic I trusted them and wanted to live. That was Dec. Just visiting my GT Niece this weekend. 1st time. You will be like me and on the other side of this but you can't avoid the middle bit. It's painful emotionally as much as anything feeling so vulnerable. This group on here is fab at saying what you need in the moment. Xx

  • The unknown is always frightening.

I found forums like these (run by well respected charities) incredibly helpful to give me an idea of what to expect. If you have any specific concerns I’d try giving your breast care nurse a call. I found mine incredibly helpful in those early days. Alternatively try calling the helpline here.

On the day of my operation everyone was really nice, and gave me confidence that I was in good hands.

Sorry you’ve joined our club, it’s one no one wants to belong to, but at least the members are really nice, helpful people.
