Hi everyone,
I've recently been diagnosed with her2 positive breast cancer with some lymph nodes which she also involved.
I have finally finished all my scans and now waiting to see the oncologist before i start chemo and protein injections before surgery.
There is so much to think about I dometimes don't know every to start. However does anyone have opinions about the cold cap? I've heard mixed reviews and wondered with everything I sm going through is it really worth it?
Thank you for any advice
Hi. Sorry to hear your diagnosis.
Regarding cold cap you can always try it and stop if you aren't comfortable. If you don't try it on your first cycle you cant then use it on subsequent cycles.
I tried it and lasted 2 and a bit cycles before I gave up. First cycle I was fine. Second cycle I started feeling sick and had pain so had to be given additional meds. 3rd cycle the same so I decided to stop it completely.
I have lost about 80 percent of my hair but it is already growing back and started to grow back during last cycle of chemo. I have no regrets in trying the cold cap but it wasn't for me.
Most definitely. Here is a very good place to get lots of advice.
Hi Lunalouwho, I used the scalp cooling cap for all 8 cycles of chemo. I had paracetamol just before it started and found the first 10mins the hardest. After that it was fine. I did loose most of my hair but it started to grow back when I changed from EC to Docetaxel. I’m now 2 months post chemo and I have a full covering of hair. From what I read using the scalp cooling cap helps with the re growth and it seems to have worked. You need to use it from the start but if you find it’s not for you, you can stop, but you can’t add it if you don’t use it at the start.
Wishing you all the best for your journey.
