Hi..I seem to be here loads at the moment! Has anyone else had the same as what I'm getting? I know we all react differently to drugs but was wondering which was the worse, I've had my first EC last week and not feeling great ,now I've seen paclitaxel can give you bad diarrhoea abd to avoid whole grains etc, my diet is wholegrain and pulses lots of fruit and veg so how will I get round that one!? Eat stodge and food that's not so good for me?
Help!!! Much love ️
Hi Musicmumma
I had 3 EC, three weeks apart, and then 12 weeks of paclitaxel.
When I was on EC I felt washed out for about half of the time between cycles and then would wake up feeling normal again for the rest of the time. My main side effects were loosing my hair, feeling washed out and food tasting horrible.
I found paclitaxel much easier and didn't really have any side effects while on that. In fact, my hair started to grow back while I was on pacli.

Hi Musicmumma , I also had EC then paclitaxel, and like latchbrook I found paclitaxel really easy. Couldn’t believe how normal I felt the morning after each session. I did suffer a bit from constipation - definitely not diarrhoea! I ate a lot of grains and fruit and veg, including dried fruit, to tackle that. So hopefully you’ll be able to eat the food you enjoy without issues. Best of luck x
I had 3 lots of EC first - was overall fine, a bit spaced out and tired but ok on the whole. I have now had 6 of 9 Paclitaxel - been fine although tired. I have a very healthy vegetarian diet - lots of vegetables and pulses, dried fruit etc - no problem at all. My body is well used to that kind of food - I think it would react badly to stodgy to be fair!!!

Hi latchbrook..thanks for your reply, I'm hoping I feel a bit better next week getting ready for the next one, and then it begins again..its so hard to know what to do for the best
Hi Jomor, thanks for your reply. Hearing that I'm hopefully my diet can stay healthy, at the moment I seem to have gone off some of my favourite foods. I'm hoping this is temporary! Hair loss is copable, not what I want but not to be able to eat the foods I enjoy and that are healthy is awful! I'm also missing my wine! Big hugs xxx
Hi Jan, thanks for the reply, I hate to eat food that I know is full of rubbish, I'm just worried as when you only fancy certain things they may not always be the right thing. I'm kind of likening it to morning sickness and being pregnant..although not the same obviously, but the nausea. I've only just started the EC too, 3 more to go..it has made me feel tired though Big hugs xx
Hi Musicmumma
If I was you I'd just keep to your existing diet as it sounds healthy. Don't forget that just because some people get diarrhoea doesn't mean you will.

Hi,
With regards being sensitive to fibre and diarrhoea on paclitaxel I can say this was definitely the case for me! I normally have a diet full of vegetables and grains and found that the only way to not be sat on the toilet all day was to eat white toast and potatoes pretty much. But my appetite wasnt good due to taste changes on paclitaxel so all I really fancied was bland food anyway. You nnght not have these symptoms and be fine but if you do try not to worry just eat whatever you can manage to get through it. I sometimes had huel meal replacement drinks to get the nutrients in.

Hi Lucy, this is what I was dreading, I'm kind of thinking if all I can eat is bland and starchy foods to keep my energy up then ill have to. I knew this wasn't going to be a walk in the park but bloody hell, what have I got coming!? Big hugs x
Sorry I didn't mean to be negative or worry you just wanted to share that the symptoms you mention can happen. Fingers crossed they won't for you. Best of luck with it all :). X
