Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some feedback. I had lumpectomy and now have my first chemo treatment end of this week. I am petrified of the unknown and how I will feel. First 4 treatments are with Epirubicin and cyclophosphamide.anyone have any advice or what to expect
Hi there, I had 4xEC & 4xPaclitaxel and kept a diary of it which you may find useful. Here’s the link

good luck with it all - the fear of it is worse than the actual treatment I think. You’ll get into a rhythm once you get started. Xxx
Hi LJa , I’m in a similar situation, had lumpectomy in February and my first EC chemotherapy on 9th May, due my second next Tuesday. I’d honestly say, it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. I felt hungover and nauseous for about a week- 10 days, with a couple of days with fatigue. The staff are amazing whilst you have your treatment and send you home with anti sickness tablets- take them and don’t try and be brave without. I ate small meals / ginger biscuits and got through it ok. I tried the cold cap and up to now- 2 weeks have only shed a few more hairs than normal, waiting to see what happens this week. And then it will be time for my next cycle. I will tag you in the May group, a lovely supportive group of people, who have mainly started chemo this May, plus some who know what it’s all about x
Good luck , sending hugs x
Hi...I'm due to start mine next week EC every 2 weeks for 4 weeks, then I go on to paclitaxel once a week for 12 weeks. Not looking forward to it either. Hope you get on OK Sending hugs ️
Hi Lja, I have 4x EC and 4 x Docetaxel. I too was scared about any side effects and reactions. They will give you pre meds to help prevent and reactions and they will give you meds to take home too to help with side effects. I found on EC on the day it would make me feel a bit light headed as if I had been drinking. I would be ok for a couple of days just a bit tired. No nausea as the anti sickness meds combated that. After that I felt tired and achy bones, muscles and sore skin. Food would taste yuk for a few days too. It would last between 5 and 7 days and then would start to ease and I would begin to feel like myself again. Drink plenty of water or fluids. Avoid caffeinated drinks and switch to decaf. Eat a good varied diet, maybe little and often. Remember everyone reacts differently on chemo and the side effects are different for everyone. If you click on my name you can read my journey so far.
Wishing you all the best for your journey.
Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x
