Hi
I've had surgery and started hormone therapy. Radiotherapy next week. I'm feeling so tired and honestly awful. Is this normal? Lovely ladies let me know??
Hello. I didn't have hormone therapy but I did crash after my surgery. I see from posting on here a lot of ladies have issues with medication but speak to your BCN if it's too much. It's early days yet so don't expect to be back up and running like before diagnosis. Mentally it gets you too xx
Hi, my dr told me to push through with the meds for four months. I’m still very tired after surgery 6 months ago.
Hello My Grace is Sufficient ,
I agree with Grogg 6 months is still very early days - you have a lot of healing going on 'inside' that can't be seen, nerves that have to heal, nerves that have to re-start (can't think of the right word). Add on to this the stress and anxiety of getting on this rollercoaster of a ride in the first place - this will be starting to come through now, as you will of being running on overdrive these past months.
Plus your body adjusting to the daily hormone therapy - learning to cope with less oestrogen - each day more coming out - I do believe all of this combined owww and the added worry about the upcoming radiotherapy - all of these added together will make you tired.
I have to agree with Grogg again - it does affect you mentally, far, far more than many realise.
You will get there - just one step at a time - maybe ask your Doctor of Consultants when you go for Radiotherapy if they could suggest any type of vitamins you could possibly need - I believe Vitamin D is a great one for us and can help ease joint pains too.
Most of all if you are worried then why not contact the Macmillan Online Nurses and ask there advice - all extra help and guidance can only be for the better xxx
Hi I was just reading all the replies and I agree about the tiredness, it's awful plus I have hot flushes, joint pains, numb feet finger tips it's Endless. Surgery was 6 months ago and I thought it would ease by now. It's good to know Wae are not alone fighting to stay strong every day is a struggle so we just have to take it slow after years of being a busy teacher!! Take care xxx
I agree with all that is written. I was washed out before I started my radiotherapy and the first few days I felt dreadful. It passed and apart from some tingling in my fingers I'm ok. My problem is side effects from letrozole even though I've been taking it for 6 months I am now having problems. Stay strong
Hi, yes my experience seems to echo what everyone else is experiencing…you have expectations of when you should be feeling better. I finished chemo in Nov and secon surgery in Jan and Radiotherapy in March and tabs started Feb. I was very tired after Radiotherapy ( but then got shingles two weeks after) . Onco physio said every treatment we have has a side effect of fatigue and also it is the mental anguish we have been on and suddenly Radiotherapy is a quieter procedure and it sort of hit me mentally as I was lying there alone in the machine! I think it all takes a lot longer to heal than we think xxx love to all xx no one knows but us what it is to go through this xxx
Hi Mama37 what side effects are you having I've been on letrozole for 6 months it's joint pains tiredness no taste numbness can't sleep properly but one day we will feel great again
Hi, my side effects from letrozole have been horrendous vivid nightmares. I have only had a handful of nights sleep without dreaming.I also have an itchy rash on my torso, some tingling in my fingers, and my balance is sometimes a bit off. We are hoping that if my nightmares ease over the next weeks then it’s back to discussions as to the next step. I find it strange that after this length of time I am having side effects. But as I say, I am here and that’s what matters. Be well.
