Head is a complete muddle so much to take in.
Hi there, I think we’ve all been there and can totally relate to how you’re feeling. You’ve come to the right place, a lovely bunch of people on here who will support you all the way. It takes a while for the initial shock of diagnosis to sink in. Once you have your treatment plan it all somehow seems to slot into place. I wish you all the very best.
This is a lovely place, that no-one wants to be part of!
You’re right, there is so much to take in. Perhaps the most important thing is to make sure you know what sort of breast cancer you have. Breast cancer isn’t ‘one size fits all’ don’t read too much (even here) about other types of breast cancer, what comes next will be personalised by your team to you.
Do you have the number for your breast care nurse? They know that the early days can be quite overwhelming, and are there to help and support you. In my experience they don’t mind being rung up with any questions, and will hold your hand as you work out what you need to know. In the same way that our cancers are different the way we need and handle information is different as well.
Hi Annie, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I was diagnosed late January and have so far had 3 cycles of chemotherapy. Found my breast lump on the 1st of Jan.....worst New year present ever!!! My lump disappeared 5 days after my first chemotherapy cycle.
A lot to take in but we'll get there.
Hi Annie
I can relate! I was diagnosed 5 weeks ago and my head has been absolute mayhem. It's worse at the start because of the shock and the unknown. You do quickly get your head around it and focus on the treatment needed. I find it helps when I find out more information from the oncologist/surgeon/nurses. They can give you details specific to your individual cancer. Everyone's is different, exactly as Carrie says. You'll quickly become familiar with all the terminology. The treatment options and the advancements in research for breast cancer are amazing so you are in good hands. The experts know what they are doing x
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
