Has anyone else had all their lymph nodes removed as part of the procedure and are further down the road, any advice of anything I need to do to protect that arm? TIA x
Hi, sorry your on this mad bus but let’s make the most of the ride!
I’ve had 27 lymph nodes removed so a total clearance 8 weeks ago & now on chemo (2nd session tomorrow)
do the exercises 3x a day & do not give up one inch of ground, take painkillers before if needed but do them as a frozen shoulder is not what we need or reduced mobility
massage 2x day with E45 cream or similar & use some pressure - your BCN will show you how, again do it religiously, I view it as being kind to myself
just found out this week I’ve got lymphoma in the breast so more massage to improve it
good luck , stay strong & let us all know how you get on x
Hi Rubberduck
27 lymph nodes!!?? Bloody hell! I had my mastectomy on March 23rd and it had spread to lymph nodes so they took the cancerous one plus a few others, still waiting for results,so not sure if I will need chemo or radiotherapy xxx
Thank you, yes am doing exercises 3 x a day and pushing stretches a bit further too, as finding it’s also tighter across my ribs. Be 4 weeks since surgery next Wednesday and want to start back to include some yoga. Have just read leaflet on lympodema, had been avoiding as just the thought of getting it scares me. Hopefully I’ll get more instructions from breast care nurses soon as to next steps. Oncology appointment is 2/5!
I had breast cancer in the sentinel node and a microscope amount in one other. Had all 11 nodes removed and waiting to start chemotherapy. Good luck with your results and next steps.
Yup, 27 removed & 24 were cancerous, I’m focusing on the 3 clear ones
I had 30 removed and 1 had cancer. I do my arm exercises once in the evening but more if it aches. I did them religiously in the beginning. Surgery on 6th Dec last year. My arm has full movement. I've bought better gardening gloves and longer over gloves. UV protection with long sleeves for dancing outside. Just working it out slowly over time. Determined to get my life back. Xxxxx
That’s good to hear. I need to look at better oven gloves and gardening gloves. Bad enough worrying about dealing with breast cancer without now worrying about lymphodema! I’m a sun lover so going to be hard making sure I’m protecting that arm whilst enjoying sitting in the sun! Good luck with your progression moving forward to new normal. Xxx
It takes a while, the improving weather helps. I was doing gym occasionally and the odd aerobic activity. Just building up slowly. 30 mins walking 5 times weekly I was told. I have put a bit if weight on, going to get it off slowly. X
