New here, feeling alone and confused

Hello to all you good people here !

Some background : I live and work in the UK for the past ten years. We never took out a private health insurance, so I've had to come "home" to My EU Country to get treatment.

My husband took a new job in another EU country, so I'm here in My EU country alone. He came to visit and to help with surgery dates. Was here for 3 weeks.

I'm feeling terribly alone, worried, and upset.

I miss my dog who is in the UK.

I finally have my post-surgery follow-up this Wednesday 22 March, to find out if they removed all the cancer. Then, I plan on coming back to the UK on Thursday to see my dog and spend a week away from this hell situation of loneliness.

I have so many questions, worries.

1st question : Do you think it will be okay to fly for two hours on a plane ? Surgery was 3 weeks ago.

Thank you so much for allowing me to write here.

  • Can you not just be in the uk ?

Sounds like it would make sense.

    xx

  • Thanks for your reply, Trentender.

Unfortunately, now that my husband has moved to another EU country, we have to leave the UK before July (lease ends in July). That means I have to leave my job Sweat and try to get transferred to his EU country or My EU Country. I have debt to pay off, and I don't want to leave my job, but I can't afford to live in the UK alone. Plus, there are all the problems with the NHS, and I can't afford to pay private. I have my house in My EU country, and that's where I'm getting treatments.

It's all so confusing, and worrisome.

My life is a total mess.

  • Hi Teddie23

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and that you are struggling with it all. It's perfectly understandable that you are feeling worried and upset it sounds like you are going through a lot. I don't have an answer for you to your question but might I suggest that you either ring the breast clinic and ask about whether it's ok to fly or you ask the question at your follow-up appointment tomorrow.  You could also contact the Macmillan helpline to get advice about what you are going through.  Here's the link: Emotional, financial and physical help for people with cancer | Macmillan Cancer Support

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever comes next.

    Best wishes
