Hi, I’m new to the group. I am 1/6 rounds down of DC plus phesgo for Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma, nodes not involved as far as can be seen on US. HER2+, hormone +ve. Lumpectomy following chemo and then radiotherapy. Hair is still on but starting to come out more. Feeling a lot better now I’m 11 days on from first chemo. Both kids at Uni and a husband working from home. Trying to forge a new routine for myself!
Bramblecat - that’s it then - one down, five to go !
It’s the only way to look at it - or at least I did.
I kept a diary for symptoms, not wishing you any, meds, temperature ,feelings etc You can look at it after and be proud of yourself for getting through this stage. I read mine the other day and was surprised at what I had forgotten.
I have hair again now , it wasn’t that long before it started to grow back so don’t worry.
You can plan your ‘new’ life on days when you feel like being a little lazy.
xx
Hi there I was her2 positive plus I node involved I've had six rounds of chemo which was very difficult I must say best was is too keep a diary of each day so you can look back I struggled to eat as everything tasted horrid so I stuck to bland foods porridge pasta rice I put some special protein powders that were full of everything I needed in my porridge to keep my strength up. I found my hair came out 2wks after chemo no1 broke my heart as it was thick blonde and waist length I got fed up of clumps coming out so I shaved it of it was very easy to wash . make sure you take you anti sick meds get into a routine I made rhe mistake of thinking I didn't need them ohh what a mistake. I've not long had my lumpectamy and waiting for radiotherapy there is light at the end of the tunnel, good luck with your journey xx
The diary is a great idea. Just started one. I’m on my ‘good’ week (week 3) before second round on 27/03. Do the symptoms get progressively worse with each round? Thanks for your reply xx
Beige, bland foods all the way in week 1 and 2. Week 3 now and getting my appetite back. I will try to build myself up again before round 2. Thanks so much for replying xx
Hi Bramblecat -
mine did accumulate, but the first ones, 4 x 3 weekly EC were side effect free. It was the 12 weekly Paclitaxel , with carboplatin thrown in for good measure every 3rd week, that were challenging for me ! But soon done.
xx
