Hello

ive had a recent diagnosis, just last week, HER2+ Ductal stage 3. Been for ultrasound, biopsy, MRI, have another biopsy coming, but expect to start chemo around the 21st March.

feeling sad/ angry/ confused most the time at the moment. It’s going to be a rubbish 36th birthday present as I could be starting on or close to 24th which is my birthday. Also have a 14month old, who I’m so worried I just won’t be able to enjoy the way I should for such a crucial part of his growth, and that’s getting me down.

 Any other soon-to-be-starters?

Any one have any advice on what to buy/ bring to chemo treatment sessions?

  • Oh Rubberduck, so sorry for your losses. Your poor husband it’s been a hard time for him and you.
Sending you both lots of love

    Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x

  • Sorry to hear you’re going through this. Hope your first cycle of Doxetacel goes well. Wish you the best

  • Hope it goes well for you!

I'm 10 days in from 3rd round of FEC one more to go then on to doxetaxal so will be keen to jear how you get on!

Been more tired this time around and have a very sore tongue! Bit all manageable. Off for a little break next week pre round 4. Love having week 3 treats in to look.forward to,

  • Hi Dolphinstar,

I had sore tongue/ ulcers a couple of times with EC, and found Peroxyl mouthwash to be brilliant! I just bought it in Sainsbury’s/ Boots and was a real game changer for painful tongue.

I had to delay my 4th EC as I have a cough/cold that’s too bad last week, so last dose for me on Wednesday. Not looking forward to it, but at least it will be over.

Similarly onto Doxy next, so keen also to hear how people get on.

  • Contact your chemo team and they should be able to get mouthwash and drops put on prescription. I have had mouthwash prescribed from day 1 and Nystatin drops.

  • You should be able to get mouthwash on prescription. I have from day 1

  • Hello, how is everybody doing? The fatigue has really hit me this week, have had very little energy for anything. Yesterday was frustrating as I didn't feel up to going out but I was bored indoors with nothing worth watching on TV and could only read for short bursts at a time. I also have a near constant feeling of indigestion in my throat which makes keeping hydrated uncomfortable, still it's far better than having the dreaded nausea/vomiting I guess. I am also waking early in the morning, like 6am and can't get back to sleep. The days are soooo long at the moment, something which I would normally welcome as you can fit more in but I just don't have the motivation to do anything. On Monday I have a second echocardiogram to assess whether I'm fit for the change in chemo meds next time. Then on Tuesday I have a place on the Look Good Feel Better session, so hoping that will cheer me up a bit.

Hope you're all OK, let us know x

  • Hi Angie,

sorry to hear it’s been a rubbish cycle for you. Definitely feel your pain with the tiredness getting you down - it’s depressing when normal things feel beyond you.

I’ve been struggling with the mental battle, it really gets me down the few days before treatment that I have to go back for more and can’t just go back to ‘normal life’

fingers crossed for your scan, and hopefully the new treatment won’t be so exhausting. I’m on to Doxytaxel next cycle too, so feeling a bit apprehensive about the change and not knowing what to expect. Whilst I hate EC, the unknown is also a bit scary!

  •  Sorry to say but I have found docetaxel worse than ec. I found the side effects more delayed. Done for first couple of days but then boom. First cycle ended up in hospital with neutropenic sepsis - felt really rough but interesting temp wasn't too high.  Oncologist reduced dose of docetaxel to 75 percent. Second cycle ended up at hospital as temp decided to reach 38 and I had nasty cold. Bloods showed I had parainfluenza but no neutropenia. Didn't stay in but had day at hospital on fluid. Wasn't the chemo drugs so managed to do third final cycle yesterday and I shall see what happens. Ok today just a bit tired.

  • Sorry to hear that

Any positive doxetaxal stories, dreading it also!
