Hi my name is Zoe, I have been diagnosed with Evasive grade 3 breast cancer, I feel like I’m in a dream. Things are not going quick enough for my liking. I’m waiting to start chemo to shrink it before the operation. The thoughts what are going through my head while waiting is crazy. I just want to start treatment

  • Hi Zoe, do you have a date to start chemo and do you know what type of chemo you will have? We're all here to help and support you so feel free to reach out and ask any questions you may have, or if you just need some encouragement. xx

    • Hi Zoelee, I know exactly how you feel, I also wanted to start things quickly after my diagnosis. My chemotherapy was further delayed as I had a UTI.  I spoke to both the chemotherapy sister and my breast care nurse who assured me that it would not affect my outcome.  I take it you have not seen your oncologist yet, once you get that appointment and know what chemo you will be having I am sure you will find that treatment will follow within a few weeks. I wish you the very best for the journey ahead.  I am at the stage of starting radiotherapy later this week having had 6 rounds of chemotherapy, docetaxil, carboplatin and phesgo, and surgery before Christmas, have also just started 1st of 14 rounds of Kadcyla.  I too feel as if I am in a dream at times, can’t believe it is happening to me, but trust in your breast care consultant and oncologist, they will know what is the best treatment for you, mine have been fantastic.  Best wishes to you.

  • Thank you. It’s the worst waiting. I have been for appointment and they have got everything in place for me just waiting for results of biopsy,  I have had the metal marker put in ready ,I’m negative for 1 result I just need to wait for hers2 and another I’m so stressed with it all, under my arm keeps getting pain in and my other breast also I don’t know if it’s my mind .

  • Waiting is definitely the worse.  My results took longer to come back because the Her2 test took more time.  I am triple positive hence the Kadcyla treatment now.  I think the mind can play tricks on you, I am sure that once you get all of your results and you have a plan in place you will feel better.  Good luck. X

  • Hi Zoe, those early days waiting for test results and for treatment to start are really hard. Like you, I had pains all over my body and I was convinced the cancer had spread everywhere, but as Mimosa said, it's your mind playing tricks on you. Use the time you have before you start chemo to get yourself in the best possible shape: eat healthily and do some exercise (check with your GP first if you haven't done any exercise for a while, but just brisk walking is all you need to do). Many healthcare professionals are now recommending exercise as the first "medicine" to be prescribed for cancer. Take comfort from the fact that your team will take good care of you - they are so knowledgeable, and treatments are excellent nowadays as are survival rates. I also have a Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, HER2+. I've just finished neoadjuvant chemo and will have surgery in a few weeks. They couldn't see any cancer on my latest MRI, so the chemo did its job. We're all rooting for you and wish you all the best. Do let us know how you get on and what chemo you will have so we can give you helpful tips if you would like them! In my experience, you have to find out so many things for yourself. The oncology staff are great but don't always know or tell you everything. xx

  • Hi thanks. Are you triple negative x

  • Hi Zoe, no I'm HER2 positive, hormone negative. x

  • I start chemo 9th march. I don’t know what I’m having until I go Friday to sign for it.
