Hi everyone

I’ve recently finished primary chemo for HER2 positive breast cancer. I had surgery mid January and all going well. I met with Oncologist yesterday who has suggested Kadcyla for 12 months after radiotherapy. The thought of going back to chemo for a year fills me with dread and I wondered if anyone has experience of receiving Kadcyla?

  • Hi   sorry you find yourself on here but glad to hear all going well . Lots of support on here . I can’t answer your question fully but have a read of my profile. Click on my name to have a read .
My MX was in 2019 followed by chemo then 12 month of Herceptin for HER2+ so no Kadcyla . ..this might have been because not available then I did hear there was new treatment following year I think .

What I  did have was three year of bisphosphonate infusions so only just finished treatment Dec 2022

like you I was not happy to say the least about length of treatment plan ..wouldn’t ring bell at end of chemo because was returning  in three weeks for Herceptin .

For me it was something that needed to be done ..it reduces the risk of recurrence . It has passed quickly even tho covid shielding was added to mix so visit to unit became my only outing every three weeks lol.
We are all different so have different plans and I’m sure others will reply to you good luck with the rest of your treatment

    take care

One step at a time and ...Breathe !

  • Hi there and sorry you ended up here and have to go through all this. Yesterday My cousin was diagnosed with ductal type carcinoma HER2… she is very shocked and so am I. She is only 35… Dr said she has to have Chemo first because it is a Grade 3 (gladly Stage 1). Then surgery, and radiotherapy after surgery as well as hormone therapy I think. Too much information in one appointment. We are going to see oncologist tomorrow and get more information as well as when treatment would start probably. I know how she is feeling because I’ve been diagnosed with testicular cancer 7-8 years ago and gone through chemo and surgeries, I know how bad it is (All clear since April 2016)… I do hope and believe you will be all fine! Just no idea what my cousin will be going through. That’s why I joined the breast cancer group to get any support I can.
