Hi I’m new to this forum. I have been  diagnosed with breast cancer have had 6 cycles of chemotherapy and a lumpectomy. I have started a five year course of Tamoxifen tablets it’s the second week and i have started feeling exhausted since yesterday I hope this doesn’t last long as I have no energy. I will be starting 4 weeks of radiotherapy from tomorrow. I feel very nervous and anxious that’s why I felt like reaching out to this community.

  • So sorry no-one has replied, this should bump you up to the front where hopefully you will get relevant answers.

  • Sorry to hear this, it should improve. Radiotherapy is easy compared to Chemo, you may feel tired and hopefully your breast skin which can get sore, will not. They will give you cream to put on it twice a day, and if its sore you can buy a support tshirt  from M and S which are lovely and soft. Good luck.

  • Thank you for replying. I suffer from depression and feel tired all the time  that’s why I was so worried. Your reply has made me feel at ease. Thank you again

  • Still here and I’ve only had 18 months without cancer since July 2016 when I was first diagnosed. TBH I occasionally worry that I’m not as reconciled to my demise as I was in the beginning!

Your journey will have its own unique ups and downs, but hope in the face of uncertainty can be well rewarded

    With hope and love, D

  • On a practical radiotherapy note, an old silk scarf is also very gentle on the skin and a district nurse recommended Medihoney (medical grade manuka honey, health food store) applied to sore areas - worked for me.

  • Hi Ps5

    Good luck with your radiotherapy.

I have now finished all my treatment apart from tamoxifen.  I felt tired and no energy after treatment,  I think I was running on adrenaline through treatment and once it finished it all caught up with me.

It's taken a year but you will gradually get your energy back.

  • Hi, this is the same for me, 6 chemos then lumpectomy, I’ve only had 1 chemo, 2nd is this week, I have target therapy as well for  the her2 gene hope you feel better soon xx

  • Hi and welcome to the forum. I think sometimes our bodies take a while to adjust to the shock of treatment and it's not so unusual to need time to recover. I hope you cope well with radiotherapy, which is typically much easier than chemo for most people. best wishes
